Arc System Works Introduces New BlazBlue Game With Special Guest Characters – Comicbook.com

The BlazBlue series has been a big hit with fighting fans over the last few years, and some have been asking when we would see a new entry in the series. Well, considering that Arc System Works has its hands full with Dragon Ball FighterZ, we assumed it would be a while.

Silly us.

Today, during the EVO 2017 finals for BlazBlue: Central Fiction, the publisher revealed the newest entry in the series, BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle, which will be making its way to consoles and PC in 2018.

The game will feature a full cast of characters from the BlazBlue universe, but what’s really cool here is how some superstars will be crossing over from other franchises to join the battle. Thus far, we know that Ragna the Bloodedge from BlazBlue, Yu from Persona 4 Ultimate Arena, Hyde from Under Night In-Birth and Ruby Rose from the Rooster Teeth series RWBY will be included in the game. And the developer promised “more to come!” with announcements in the months ahead.

Cross Tag Battle will feature the work of Arc System Works’ up-and-coming illustrator Konomi Higuchi, who will serve as the game’s lead character designer.

The teaser trailer can be seen above, and while it only provides a glimpse of what we can expect from the game, it should be very promising, especially to die-hard BlazBlue players that have been waiting for a good cross-over title.

That said, there are some questions that could use answering. For instance, just how full will the roster be? Will we see even more characters cross over from RWBY, Persona 4 Ultimate Arena and other franchises? And, most of all, what platforms will we see this on? Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC seem like given guesses, but it’d be great to see this game pop up on the Nintendo Switch as well, especially given its local multiplayer options for on-the-go play.

For the time being, we’re in “wait and see” mode, as Arc System Works will likely have more information as soon as next month during GamesCom 2017. In the meantime, enjoy the trailer above, and be sure to check back for more details. It’s cross-over mania!
