Alhaaj Owais Raza Qadri respected as a legend in the field of Naat Khawans (reciters of Naat) is all set for a return performance in Kenya this month. During his visit last December he thrilled his fans and Muslim faithful with a passionate performance.

His comeback is on a special request by fans and is organised by the Imtiaz Ali Masjid Committee Nairobi and United Sunni Muslim Committee to take place initially at Konzi Mosque in Mombasa on September 22 and in Nairobi at Sarit Centre Expo Hall on September 23. Naat, is a poetic recitation in praise of the Prophet of Islam and his attributes.

Following the trend set by the legendary poet Hassan Ibn Thabit referred to as Shayer-e-Risalat, poets over the centuries have written and recited Naats. A feature of the Naat recitation is that  no musical accompaniment is used, however in some occasions Daff, a small percussion instrument comes in handy. Naat recitation is popular in South East Asia.

Owais Qadri born and brought up in Pakistan is undoubtedly the most loved of the present day Naat Khawans. He is admired for his melodious voice and a unique style of expressing  admiration for the Prophet. Owais is a great crowd puller and has a record of entertaining  two million fans in one of his presentations in Hyderabad India. Owais has recorded countless Naats.

The organisers of Qadri’s current Kenya Tour 2017 and Mehfil e Naat have facilitated yet another opportunity to see and hear the great legend live. Entry to the venues in Mombasa and Nairobi is free. The organisers have also made arrangements for free  supper after the recitals. Enjoy this once in a lifetime entertaining and soul awakening opportunity.

And next from this evening until next Sunday you can enjoy an inspirational play Yugpurush- Mahatma’s Mahatma at the Oshwal centre auditorium. It is a portrayal of close association between Mahatma Gandhi and his spiritual mentor Shrimad Rajchandraji. The performances are in Gujarati, Hindi and English.
