Global recovery set to drive UK manufacturing boom – Telegraph.co.uk

Signs of a British manufacturing boom are expected to emerge this week as UK factory bosses reap the benefits of a global recovery.

Official data are expected to show there was a slight 0.1pc uptick in monthly manufacturing output in June, putting the UK on course to enjoy bigger increases in the second half.

“Looking to July’s figures and beyond, I would definitely say there is scope for an improvement, given the uplift externally focused manufacturers are now seeing,” said Victoria Clarke, an economist at Investec.

A closely-watched survey of factory bosses last week revealed the second biggest rise in foreign demand in at least two decades.
