While expensive, city life can also be lucrative. In San Francisco, for instance, the typical employee rakes in $112,400 a year.

That’s according to LinkedIn’s 2017 State of Salary Report, which analyzed data from more than two million LinkedIn members and determined the 10 highest-paying cities.

Read on to see which other cities cracked the top 10 and how much professionals in these areas are earning.

For each city, we listed the median total compensation, which includes bonus and commission, if applicable. We also highlighted one job from each area that pays particularly well compared to the national average. All data comes from LinkedIn.

Chicago

Median total compensation: $79,000

Role that pays higher in Chicago: Electricians earn $130,000, 33 percent above the national average

Denver, Colorado

Median total compensation: $80,300

Role that pays higher in Denver: Helpdesk analysts earn $70,000, 14 percent above the national average

Median total compensation: $82,000

Role that pays higher in Houston: Engineering managers earn $130,000, 16 percent above the national average

Boston, Massachusetts

Median total compensation: $86,000

Role that pays higher in Boston: Communications managers earn $70,000, 43 percent above the national average
