Uber faces ban in London – Loses License next month. – DailyTech

Transport for London (TfL), is London transport authority and is responsible for the transport system in Greater London, England.

TfL has just announced that they will not renew Uber’s license to operate in London after the expiration date at the end of this month.

In a Licensing decision posted on Twitter, Transport for London “concluded that Uber is not fit and proper to hold a private hire operator license.”

London’s Mayor, Sadiq Khan, voiced his support for TfL’s decision saying, “All companies in London must play by the rules and adhere to the high standards we expect — particularly when it comes to the safety of customers,” He added. “Providing an innovative service must not be at the expense of customer safety and security.”

Uber has 21 days to respond to the ruling by appeal and will not be able to resume operations until the appeal process has concluded.
