UK passes the test for Irish students – The Times

More than 5,000 Irish students began their third-level studies at UK universities last year, according to the new UK edition of the The Sunday Times Good University Guide, published today.

The most popular UK universities with undergraduate students from the Republic were Ulster University (667 students) and Queen’s University, Belfast (256). Five other universities in the UK attracted more than 100 Irish entrants last year.

Scotland — which allows Irish students to study free — is unsurprisingly the most popular destination, with Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen taking 184 Irish entrants last year. This was followed by Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh (142), Edinburgh Napier University (137) and Edinburgh University (85).
